Gay Frères, France wood and gold link bracelet
Gay Frères, France wood and gold link bracelet
A bracelet comprised of carved oval-shaped wood and gold links with cinched gold spacers, in 18k. Gay Frères, France.
Founded in 1835 in Geneva by Jean-Pierre Gay and Gaspard Tissot, Gay Frères were the pre-eminent makers of quality pocket watch chains and jewelry. Whilst the horology-focused aspects are what made Gay Frères famous it is their beautifully worked artisan jewelry made in the 1960s and '70s that is particularly sought after by collectors. In addition to their own signed collections, the company continues to provide high-end work to houses such as Van Cleef & Arpels and Hermès. Their expertise in making complicated chains and cuffs was supplemented by outstanding craftsmanship in gem setting and working with ebony and ivory as well as enameling.
