Aldo Cipullo for Cartier nephrite jade and coral earrings
A pair of circular carved nephrite jade and gold clip earrings with a sugarloaf coral overlay, in 18k. Aldo Cipullo for Cartier, Paris.
Aldo Cipullo was one of the most innovative and important jewelry designers of the twentieth century. After moving to the United States from Italy, he worked for Tiffany & Co. and David Webb before moving on to Cartier in 1969. While working for Cartier, he designed the now iconic Love bracelet and the "Juste un Clou" collection along with a series of bold, geometric designs made of yellow gold and carved semi precious materials such as agate, coral, onyx, and jade. He departed Cartier to set up his own atelier in 1974 and passed away in 1984 at the age of 48, a creative life cut too short.
